London Met UCU and Unison will be meeting management tomorrow for further talks following our initial meeting with the Governors, and our successful first day of strike action, last week. Both unions are continuing to press for a retraction of ALL compulsory redundancies and we will be continuing to exert pressure to ensure we achieve such assurances prior to UCUs next meeting with the Governors – now scheduled for June 10. To that end, UCU HQ has now authorised, and notified the university, the date for our next day of demonstrative strike action – Thursday 4 June, to coincide with the Board of Governors ‘Strategy Day’, should we receive no guarantee at tomorrow’s management meeting that the threat of compulsory redundancies has been completely withdrawn. As always, we will be working closely with our Unison colleagues to coordinate any and all such actions we take.
