LONDON MET UCU – CAMPAIGN UPDATE – 6 June 2016

Press coverage of our campaign against job cuts and union victimisation at London Met include the following:

Actions belie words Times Higher Education 26 May 2016

Last week’s UCU National Congress passed a total of three separate motions in support of London Met UCU, against continuing job cuts, increasing casualisation, and union victimisations. The detail of those motions, including the resolutions to organise a national demonstration in our support and for the direct intervention of our General Secretary are now available on our blog at:

We have also published some initial thoughts from London Met UCU on the detail of the academic job cuts as part of the overall 400 job cuts announced last week at London Met. Please take your time to read this synopsis as you will quickly see how inextricable the linkage is between this enormous attack upon us, the HE White Paper, and the increase in casualisation and exploitation it heralds across our sector:

The online petition we launched a few weeks ago has also received a boost and now stands at over 2,250 signatures – please sign if you haven’t already done so and pass the link to your friends and colleagues:

Yesterday, we received this excellent letter of support from one of London Met’s External Examiners, who is resigning as both a consequence of our national action and explicitly in support of our fight at LondonMet:

If you are a London Met External Examiner, and you are planning similar action, please let us know. Contact us at: uculondonmet@mail.com
